How can I apply for employment at the Watauga County Sheriff's Office?

If you are interested in applying for a position with the Sheriff's Office then please complete and email the Watauga County Employment Application and resume to employment-applications@wataugacountysheriff.org. Your application and resume will be kept on file and you will be contacted if and when a position that meets your background becomes available.

Currently there are no openings at this time.

Please note that you cannot save data on the Employment Application PDF. You must either print the application to PDF or print the application out to paper and mail it if you do not have PDF printer capability. You can mail the application to:

During the past few months, the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, Boone Police Department, and other local municipal and neighboring county Sheriff’s Offices say they have received numerous complaints about paving companies that employ high pressure tactics to pressure homeowners into signing contracts.

The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation and assistance from the 24th Judicial District’s District Attorney, have now successfully partnered with the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Protection.

Those individuals who have made complaints to local law enforcement, and/or the District Attorney’s Office (24th Judicial District), or anyone who has been coerced, or pressured, into signing a contract, is to call the following toll free telephone number: 1-877-566-7226, this office of consumer protection is aware of this activity and will be glad to take your complaint.

Citizens must be cautious against anyone attempting to intimidate, or pressure, any citizen into signing any contract until it is fully understood. It is also strongly suggested that citizens do not succumb to any high pressure tactics – many citizens have experienced expenditures in the thousands of dollars.
